Leptopterygiidae indet.

An Incomplete ichthyosaur vertebra, consisting of the neural arch and neural spine has been collected from the locality Cave di Arzo (Lower Jurassic, Switzerland).  Size, morphology and probable age allow to consider it as belonging to an ichthyosaur of the family Leptopterygiidae. However, the incompleteness of the specimen and consequen lack of diagnostic character beyond the family level, prevents any attempt of a more precise taxonomic assessment.
